Mercedes-Benz W140 CL600 AMG – The Ultimate S-Class Coupe
The Mercedes-Benz W140 CL600 is the flagship S-Class coupe, first introduced in the early 1990s. Designed during an era when Mercedes-Benz placed an exceptional emphasis on quality and luxury, the W140 symbolized engineering perfection and is often remembered as one of the last "true" Mercedes models before the company shifted towards cost efficiency and mass production.
The W140 project, including the CL600, was the work of Bruno Sacco, the legendary head of design at Mercedes-Benz, who shaped the brand’s styling from the 1970s to the early 21st century. Sacco was responsible for many of the brand’s most iconic designs and is regarded as one of the most influential automotive designers in history. The CL600, as a coupe, was positioned as a more exclusive and sporty alternative to the traditional luxury sedans of the W140 series.
The presented model was manufactured in 1997 (1998 model year) and, in addition to the complete AMG package, features a rare 6.0L V12 engine tuning, producing 441 HP, delivered to the rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. This CL600 AMG was originally delivered to Japan, where significant modifications were carried out by AMG Japan. In February 2021, the car was imported to Poland (with 94,822 km mileage) into a private collection, and the decision has now been made to sell it.
