This Porsche 912 Targa is a timelessly stylish and desirable classic air-cooled sports car, offered from long-term ownership and enhanced with a couple of choice upgrades.
Under the rear engine lid sits a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre air-cooled flat-four, delivering around 91PS to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
This example is understood to have originally been a US-delivered model, which was first registered in July 1968, and is now located in Germany, where it has been with the current owner since 2018.
The odometer indicates 12,708 Kms, though this is not warranted, and the speedometer is understood to have been previously changed from a US-spec to European-spec item.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This 912 Targa is finished in a timeless shade of silver with a brushed-metal targa roof bar, over a black vinyl-trimmed interior, featuring woven-effect inserts on the front seats and door cards, and brushed aluminium dashboard inlays.
It rides on a set of 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels finished in gloss black with anodised ‘petal’ spokes and lips, and fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres.
Equipment includes a removable targa roof panel, a heated rear screen, push-out front quarter light windows, a Porsche-branded cassette stereo, a VDO analogue clock, and glow-in-the-dark gauges.
This example has been upgraded with a wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, BF Torino front bucket seats, ITG foam air filters, and an oil breather filter.
The car comes with a spare wheel, a copy of the old US title, the appraisal document, and several invoices and service records.
CONDITION
Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
Specific notes from the seller include: a full respray is believed to have been carried out at some point in the car’s past. There are scuffs and paint chips around the car, blemishes on the front scuttle panel from when the front bonnet opens, and the rear seats and door cards are old and showing an age-related patina.
The seller notes that the speedometer doesn’t work.
The car’s last roadworthiness test was conducted on 3 August 2023, which is understood to have resulted in a clean pass with no advisories.
