Description: In the start of the 50's it was problerbly pretty hard to work for Mercedes-Benz and the company knew that it needed a fresh start to be able to survive. Three models were introduced. The sporty SL, the luxurious 'Ponton' that was positioned as a luxurious car for the masses and then this...the 300 S, a car that was ment to rival the likes of rolls-royce and Bentley and was a direct decent of cars like the 500K. This car was ment for ambassadors and politicans and actully got its name frome its most famous one. Konrad Adenauer.
This 300 S was sold new to one of Saudi Arabias sheiks and per his requestthe car was specially equipt with things that you normally dont se on cars from this era. Such as raisable suspenssion and a thicker floor that was meant as a form of armouring. Things that remain in the car of course. The car then continued its life on the ameriacan west cost before returning to Europe. When in front of this car you instnatlly can tell who it was for. Beautiful and majestic in its 'mittlerot' exterior whith actully was the color the car was sold new in. Same goes for the soft top in beige and the brown leather interior. But thats were origninality ends as this car has gone through a major restaration. down to every nut and bolt. All done with the same materials and standards as the factory used and the craftsmanship is stunning with every detail beeing perfect.
The expression 'They don't build them like they used to' is something that comes to mind as soon as you take a seat in this car. Comfrtable leather is draped over doors, seats, there even is a small pouch that covers part of the steering assembley. Whats not leather is beautiful wood and whats not wood is chrome. Everything perfect. Turn the ignition and you are greeted to a butter smooth six cylinder engine of about three liters. Open the trunk and you discover the fitted luggage that perfeclly matches the rest of the car.
The modern equivolent of this car would be a Maybach. And in a Maycah you would proberbly get things like rear seat entertainment and a few more emblems around you but you know what you dont get? A speciall tool in fine wood that is specially made to remove your hood orniment. And even if a new Maybach may get other benefit. Nothing comes close to the precense this car has.
