As cars have gotten bigger and bigger, so have the performance models we've come to love. BMW gives us good examples of that. Today, the 5 Series shares the bottom with big brother the 7 Series. The mid-range model 3 series is as big as a couple of years older 5 series and so on. This development has meant that the entry-level 1- and 2-series models have roughly the same wheelbase as the legendary E46. And although the new M5 and M3 are outstanding cars, it is precisely the size that makes BMW's M2 one of the world's best sports cars today.

The recipe is simple. A straight six that has been turbocharged to deliver here 370 hp, a well-proven format mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This example also benefits from an updated chassis thanks to lowering springs from H&R. The timeless Alpineweiss exterior has received some contrasts in carbon fiber, which cements an exterior that is low-key but still aggressive. The inside offers leather sewn together with a light blue thread. The interior offers everything you could want from a driver-focused sports car, but nevertheless has a range of amenities that make the M2 a fantastic utility vehicle.
