The Mk VI ushered in a new age for Bentley Motors when it was introduced in 1948, as it offered to customers a body produced entirely in-house for the first time. The standard steel Mk VI was a great success, and remains highly regarded among collectors today, though coachbuilders continued to offer their own creations an the Mk VI chassis, and it is one of these much rarer and more elegant cars from celebrated coachbuilders Park Ward that we are offering here.
This particular car stands out as an exceptional example, in B470DA we are offering the rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally well maintained, hand crafted sports tourer. With only 23 examples produced of this elegant Park Ward design (no.65) this is a rare and highly collectible motor car. Manufactured in 1949, we are informed that it is in very good condition, having undergone a chassis off restoration where the body was stripped back to bare metal and then finished in Oxford blue over Tudor grey. The interior is retrimmed to a very high standard in Mulberry leather. All the woodwork was removed, stripped and lacquered to the correct standard, with red carpeting finishing the interior. To keep the elements at bay a new mohair hood in excellent condition with matching hood bag is fitted, and we are informed it moves easily into position and fits snugly. Under the bonnet we are informed the engine bay has been painstakingly detailed, and the engine is running well in good order, after a large amount of restoration work. This is a wonderful car, and definitely amongst the finest examples we have Seen, it will adorn any collection of historic Bentley cars. Without doubt one for the true connoisseur.
