Ferrari 308 GTB
This specific model is known as the dry sump edition, a production model of the 308 that was made in few examples. This model is the first series-produced dry sump version for Ferrari, and formed the basis for all V8 models produced up to the present date. The Tørsum editions are made in 4 different series. The first with fiberglass bodies from 1975 to mid-1977, next series with steel bodies produced side by side with the fiberglass cars, from mid-1976 until May 1977. Next series from May 1977 to May 1979, remaining produced in steel until early 1981.
Interest in this specific model (Series 2) has exploded in recent years, affecting prices dramatically. Among connoisseurs worldwide, this model is the most sought after, the first with a steel body. There are no official production figures for these models from Ferrari, but experts in the industry have concluded that around 2,950 units of the 308 GTB with carburettor were made. Of these, approximately 1,500 were produced in steel with dry sump. The rarest of these are the first ones in steel like this one, of which it is claimed barely a hundred were produced.
